Top 5 Window Cleaning Tips

Your home is your sanctuary, and natural light is food for your mind, body, and soul. When you can't get outside, your home's windows become pictures of the healing beauty of the outdoors. Clean, sparkling windows make guests to your home feel comfortable and customers to your business feel welcome.

Here are our top 5 window cleaning tips to keep your windows looking new all year long.

1.

Clean in the dark

Or rather—clean when the sky is cloudy or the sun is low. Window chemicals dry rapidly in the hot, bright heat from the sun, leaving streaks. The alternative? Clean fast!

2.

Ditch the sponge

Exchange your sponge for a rubber squeegee. Sponges leave streaks and harbor germs. Squeegees have one job—clean your windows. They fit into corners and swipe dirt clean off.

3.

KISS it

Keep it small and simple. Use a small portion of cleaning agent, and only use one cleaning agent per window. Be sure to check that the cleaning agent is safe for your type of windows. Ammonia-based cleaners may damage stained or leaded glass.

4.

Drink coffee

But first, take out an extra coffee filter before you brew that pot. The soft fibers in the coffee filter and its hand-sized shape make it the perfect lint- and streak-free drying cloth. If you want to spring for something extra, microfiber drying cloths also work.

5.

Save your dryer sheets

Recycled dryer sheets work great as a cleaning cloth because they pull lint and dust from window blinds. Bonus—the anti-static agents transfer to the surface of the blinds as you clean them making them more dust-resistant in the future.
